Book Recommendations

IAnother of my book recommendations is Living With Dingoes by Gillian Ryhorchuk...Only few people know the real pleasures and problems associated with dingo domestication. Inspired by her many years of first-hand experience with dingoes, author Gillian Ryhorchuck offers Living With Dingoes, an instructive handbook that provides a better understanding of these canids. On top of an up-close observation of dingoes from nearly 40 years ago, Ryhorchuk gathered data and information about dingoes from other owners and researched the behavior of wolves and domesticated dogs to further grasp the nature and temperament of these species. In this book, she discloses their behavior and habits from hunting, to social and dietary. This volume not only informs dingo owners and hopeful owners of the difficulties and pleasures of everyday living with dingoes-which look like ordinary dogs but are certainly not-it also inspires the reader to learn more and understand this animal. Also, as with other pets, owning a dingo requires effort and responsibility. Raising one depends largely on the time and supervision these animals duly need. While most books on dingoes are from research with no actual experience, Living With Dingoes gives details on the lives of dingoes culled from day-to-day experience to provide readers insight, knowledge and enjoyment all at once. For more information on this book, interested parties may contact Gillian Ryhorchuck on (03) 5798-1363

The Dingo debate: The Dingo Debate explores the intriguing and relatively unknown story of Australia's most controversial animal - the dingo. Throughout its existence, the dingo has been shaped by its interactions with human societies. With this as a central theme, the book traces the story of the dingo from its beginnings as a semi-domesticated wild dog in South-east Asia, to its current status as a wild Australian native animal under threat of extinction. It describes how dingoes made their way to Australia, their subsequent relationship with Indigenous Australians, their successful adaption to the Australian landscape and their constant battle against the agricultural industry. During these events, the dingo has demonstrated an unparalleled intelligence and adaptable nature seen in few species. The book concludes with a discussion of what the future of the dingo in Australia might look like, what we can learn from our past relationship with dingoes and how this can help to allow a peaceful co-existence. The Dingo Debate reveals the real dingo beneath the popular stereotypes, providing an account of the dingo's behaviour, ecology, impacts and management according to scientific and scholarly evidence rather than hearsay. This book will appeal to anyone with an interest in Australian natural history, wild canids, and the relationship between humans and carnivores.

FOR THE LOVE OF A DINGO... I'm so excited and thank you so much Pamela Ferrari!
For those who don't know about Berenice Walters:
Berenice became fascinated by Dingoes at a very young age. Her fascination became almost like an obsession and as a young woman she spent many hours researching and studying the Dingo and she devoted over 40 years of her life as the Dingoes advocate. Committed to observing, studying, breeding and being at one with the Dingoes spirit she became a recognised authority on Australia's Native Dog and rewrote what people believed about the Dingo.
She became known worldwide simply as the "Dingo Lady" and founded the Australian Native Dog Training Society (ANDTS), later known as the Australian Native Dog Conservation Society (ANDCS).
As the Dingoes champion she took every opportunity to promote understanding of the Dingo, fight for its recognition and acceptance as the Native Dog of Australia and to educate the public on the truth about its characteristics and behaviour.
The stories in this book are about three of her Dingoes, Dora, Napolean and Snowgoose, which demonstrate the love she had and dedication to a falsely maligned Australian Native Animal.
I ask all of my friends if you could please give your support and get one too.

We breed and raise livestock for consumption
these animals are born to die
whether you or I consume or not
Our native dingo is about to lose its spot!
There is no need to poison and kill
when there are other alternatives to use at will...
